Lieutenant Wood was a member of the United States National Guard. He was commanding officer of the unit dispatched to Gunnison, Colorado in 2004, to investigate the developing incident in the town (in fact a Xenomorph infestation).
Wood, along with the rest of the National Guard unit, were ambushed and quickly slaughtered by the Xenomorphs on the town's main street soon after arriving in Gunnison.
