"The troops are Weyland-Yutani PMCs. Those are guns for hire."
―Pvt. Clarison, regarding the PMCs aboard the Sulaco (from Aliens: Colonial Marines)
CON WYPMC

Some Weyland-Yutani PMCs from Aliens: Colonial Marines.

The Weyland-Yutani PMCs were military personnel privately owned and deployed by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. They were charged with providing security for the company's more secret operations, notably overseeing the Origin Facility and its associated activities on Acheron (LV-426) and aboard the abandoned USS Sulaco.

History[]

Weyland-Yutani PMCs were deployed in force to LV-426 to oversee the Origin Facility studying Xenomorphs set up there. While they were officially providing security for the operation, Weyland-Yutani also employed the troops to ensure the scientists working at the labs did their job.

A number of PMC soldiers were also stationed aboard the USS Sulaco in orbit around the moon, overseeing research being carried out there. When the Sulaco was boarded by Colonial Marines from the USS Sephora, the PMCs engaged the newly arrived forces and used the ship's weapons systems to engage the Sephora. While the majority of the PMCs aboard the Sulaco were ultimately killed by Corporal Winter and his fellow Marines, the Sephora was destroyed by the Sulaco, with the explosion also heavily damaging the Sulaco.

The conflict between the PMCs and the Marines from the Sephora continued on the surface of LV-426, culminating in the destruction of the Origin Facility when it was both overrun by Xenomorphs and subjected to a major, concerted attack from the surviving Colonial Marines. Countless PMCs were killed during the chaos, and the survivors were stranded on the moon when Weyland-Yutani's only FTL-capable vessel on the moon, the Resolute, took off.

Equipment[]

The PMCs characteristically wore white body armor and were heavily armed, carrying an array of both USCM/Armat and Weyland-Yutani-manufactured weaponry. The PMCs are composed of at least five separate units, each with differing helmets and armor. The majority of the force's combat personnel are Grunts, who are armed with NSG23 Assault Rifles, M39 Submachine Guns and M37A2 Pump Shotguns as their primary weapons, with a variation of the Colt M1911 (likely the M4A3 Service Pistol) in their holster. They are equipped with light armor, a tactical cap and a balaclava. Some of the PMCs are Elites, wearing light armor as the Grunts but with a different helmet and equipped with either the NSG 23 and the M4RA Battle Rifle, they also employ the 88 Mod 4 pistols as their sidearms and M40 HEDP Grenades.

Some of the PMCs carry heavy body armor, making them impervious to small arms fire or melee assaults. PMC Brutes, true to their name, carry similar helmets as the Elites, but are seemingly more armored. They also carry M56 Smartguns as their disposal. PMC Engineers on the other hand, carry different helmets specialized for engineering tasks. They wield M5 RPGs and M240 Incinerator Units. PMCs who operate inside sensitive laboratory environments were additionally equipped with HAZMAT suits over their armor, those HAZMAT personnel are armed with M39 SMGs for self-defense and carry U4 Firebombs to flush combatants behind cover.

The PMCs also heavily employed fixed defences as part of their operations, frequently employing Remote Sentry Turrets to defend key positions. They also set up a battery of heavy anti-aircraft guns in and around the Origin Facility to defend it from aerial assault.

Trivia[]

  • PMC stands for Private Military Contractor (sometimes Private Military Company). PMCs are private organizations that typically provide security services or military training for corporations or even nations that require such assistance but are unable to provide it themselves.
  • While not officially stated in any medium, it's very probable the Weyland-Yutani Commandos are an elite group within the company's PMC forces, used only in special circumstances.
    • In fact, PMC game models were used to represent the commandos during the recreation of the ending to Alien3 in Stasis Interrupted.
    • Also, concept art of W-Y PMCs (seen above) shows a W-Y Grunt armed with a black Pulse Rifle, similar to the black M41A Pulse Rifles used by the commandos in Alien3.
  • PMCs will occasionally shout "controlled bursts" in-game,[1] a reference to a similar line spoken by Corporal Dwayne Hicks in Aliens. This particular dialogue seems strange, however, as the PMCs primarily use NSG 23 Assault Rifles and M37A2 Pump Shotguns, which are capable of nothing but controlled burst fire and pump-action respectively, although they will occasionally use fully automatic M39 Submachine Guns.
  • During the mission Sulaco Falls, one of the PMCs will mention a unit named 'Squad Six', saying that they will leave them behind if they don't hurry up.
