Vampirella, also known as Vampi, was the titular character of her respective series and the protagonist of the 2015 crossover comic book series Aliens/Vampirella.

History[]

Mars Colony One[]

Vampirella was hired to investigate the recently discovered catacombs below a Martian base where suspicions arose regarding vampire activity. The catacombs turned out to be overrun with xenomorph eggs. The group's proximity triggered the eggs and the majority of them are attacked and subdued by Facehuggers including Vampirella, she awakens roughly 26 hours later to discover that the group has been sealed in the cave as part of a quarantine procedure. Vampirella as well as some members of the group start coughing and convulsing as they start to give birth to Chestbursters. Only Vampirella survives this process due to her nature as a vampire. After feeding to heal her chest wound, she and Lars try to find a way out whilst evading the Xenomorph threat. Vampirella later comes across the Xenomorph that hatched from her, a Vampire Queen variant.

Personality[]

Despite her status as a vampire, Vampirella is a moral person, being shocked and hurt at the implication that she would feed or hurt any of the group when one of them wonders what will happen if she goes hungry.

Trivia[]

  • While Aliens/Vampirella marks the first appearance of Vampirella in the Alien franchise, an homage was paid to the titular character when artist Eduardo Barreto drew the protagonist of the comic book series Aliens vs. Predator: Deadliest of the species, Caryn Delacroix, in Vampirella's famously provocative and instantly recognizable red outfit.
  • Even though Vampirella is featured on the cover of all six issues of Aliens/Vampirella in her iconic red outfit, her character sports a purple, full body suit throughout the entirety of the comic series with the exception of one panel in the first issue.
