LJ- Something went haywire and I couldn't type in the text. Anyhoo, I've noticed a lot of new Predators pictures in my slideshow widget (click on MORE, then Manage Widgets). I'd like to say the increase in traffic is due to our tireless efforts, but it probably has something to do with the P.R. campaign ramping up. Adrien Brody and Fishburne, and maybe a cameo by Arnold? That's a whole lot of awesome. The closer we get, the more edits we'll likely see. Biggest problem with new contributions is the lack of references. Oh hey my vote for a new favicon is something featuring the Predalien, cuz what symbolizes the blending of two franchises/ universes better than a hybrid? It might also drive away the Alien purists and others who don't like peanut butter in their chocolate. What do you think? Smell you laterCadmiumX99 03:45, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, protect the hive! When you add an entry to a particular category, go ahead and "x" out the Xenopedia category. I'm in the process of subcategorizing things like Characters, Weapons, Spacecraft, etc. under In-universe articles (which in turn is a sub-category of Xenopedia. When you click on Xenopedia in the sidebar, you'll see the subcats In-universe articles, Real-world articles(Behind the scenes, actors, directors, articles about the films) and categories for useful Templates, maintenance, and other articles of general interest that aren't covered under IN-U or real world. On his page it says he is 12 feet tall...How do we know Scarface is 12 feet tall... thought the average Predator was 7 foot to 8 foot......is scarface older than the ones in the films because in the first AVP on the unrated Lex syays they are teenagers and they are 7 foot tall? SK/ Concrete Jungle Ref template Edit
Gracias, LJ, it looked pretty rough! Cyborg Predators? Awesome! I was so disappointed there wasn't a 'Pred-inator" in the AvPvTcomic. It seemed like a natural. Here's a reference template for you: Just type {{PCJV}} under the Sources or Appearances heading and it should save some time. Stuff Edit
Rich text lets you edit text as you would see it in the article. It's supposed to make things simpler, I think it's a pain in the arse. I disabled it under 'preferences'. Got to check out that CJ stuff on you-tube. Watched ALien 3 the Gun yesterday-more 'zombies'! Though I think they're synthetics with blue skin. Plus the prisoner that goes all pale and chucks a knife at you looks kinda zombiefied. Didn't Golic have a weird connection with the Dog Alien? Chet the Predalien Edit
Hey LJ, i left this on the Predalien talk page: You make a good point LJ, but Chet is a 'real-world' nickname used in production, as opposed to something it would be called by another character living within the AVP universe, something like, "Abomination" "Hybrid" or "Ohmygodwhatthef***isthat". Instead of a separate article, why not devote the first part of the Predalien article(its pretty skimpy anyway) to the Gunnison Predalien (AVPR) followed by the Predalien's Comic and Game appearances. Then, at the end of the article under Notes mention the nickname. Creating a separate article was a bold move and I'm glad you went for it! What I'm saying is don't refer to it as 'Chet' at all except under the Notes/Behind the scenes section at the end of the Predalien article. You have good, solid material about the AVPR Predalien (AKA our homeboy/homegirl/home???? "Chet") that would make a great first section of the Predalien article. Cut and paste the info, then redirect Chet to Predalien. Keep the character infobox too. It's a similar situation with the Queen article. It describes (or should) a specific type of Xenomorph, represented by a notable individual (the Acheron Queen).
Hey, check this out;

(In the novel, Grid is referred to as the 'Alpha-alien'). My only defense is those names are cool! The designations, 'Wolf' and 'Grid' describe the character of a particular Predator and gives individuality to an otherwise faceless Xeno. The Strause Bro.s called the Predalien "Chet" as a goof, I doubt they were serious. Look at it this way, if you lived in the AVP universe and encountered the Predalien, would you call it 'Chet'?

Yes you are a wise and patient Jedi. I'd like to get a look at the AVPR novel and see if they did the same trick with Wolf as Marc Cerassini did for Scar. It's entirely feasible that one of the "Gunnison Four" would remember the Predator as "wolf-like", maybe even "like that guy in Pulp Fiction". (What if "Wolf" is actually Yautja for "Steve"?:))By the way, do me a favor and check out the Yautja (clan) article I started. I'm ashamed to say I've never actually read the Perry books (!!!) but I have the original Dark Horse miniseries. I know I'm not the only Yautja-ignorant Predator fan out there. I'm trying to come up with a reasonable explanantion for every fan why Predators are also known as Yautja. Check out the article (it's still rough) and the talk page. In it, I compare the Yautja to the Chinese, but a better camparison might be the British Empire at its height, when nearly everyone in the world was a British citizen and spoke English. It might explain the Hish as another hunting clan that briefly rose to power, before the Yautja took over for sure in the 22nd century. Am I on to something or just talking out my butt? Read it and give me your opinion. They Still Call Me "Bruce" Edit
"Chet" is short for "Chester". That's what I'm sayin' , its just like how the crew of Jaws referred to the shark as "Bruce". It's just a goofy nickname cooked up during production, it's not meant to be taken seriously. It doesn't reveal anything about the character physically or dramatically.
On the other hand, "Scar" has a scar, "Grid" has a grid on his head and "Wolf", aside from being named after an earthly predator, is a professional 'cleaner' like Winston Wolf in Pulp Fiction. Exactly what does the name "Chet" reveal about the Predalien as a character?
This is the problem when you're trying to do a wiki on AvP. We just want to put a name to a face and the directors/writers don't give us much to go on. Who's in charge of naming these friggin' guys? (Talk about an easy job!) We still don't know what else to call the "Jungle Hunter" and the "City Hunter". And when the hell is some human gonna refer to the Predators as "predators" and not "hunter-aliens" or some crap! I wonder what Predators will reveal about the Predators. You're dead on about the BSP's. I hope the new film doesn't try to diminish Dutch or the Jungle Hunter. That's the Governator and Harry the Sasquatch you're messin' with! Humans are dangerous prey, or the Preds wouldn't bother. It ain't always about the xenos.
A Predator Senate? I'm guessin' there's a sumo wrestling ring in the middle where the representatives settle their differences. Do you think it's the Hunt that unites them as a people? Whose idea was it? Do the Preds have their own version of King Arthur, someone who brought together the warring clans?
The whole character infobox is a mess. I'd like to take a crack at it. The Avp universe is a violent deadly place which covers hundreds of years (1000's if you count the flashback in AvP). Death is commonplace in the AVPU. Categories like Dead/Living characters and Status: Dead/Alive are just not that revealing.
The ethnicity thing bugs me too. Take the Boggs article. Just because he's dark-skinned doesn't necessarily mean he's African-American. He could be South African or even Martian-American! Aside from that actor Leon Herbert is British! What does ethnicity mean when people are living on other planets? And hair, eyes, etc. that could be covered in the article.
All we should have is Name, Rank, Serial Number (for all the Military),Affiliation, Relatives, and Maybe POB and POD with times. Possibly Species, too. What's your take? --CadmiumX99 05:43, March 31, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, don't sweat the Yautja thing, I honestly wasn't sure. Still tracking down those Perry books... As far as an AvP division, I'm more interested in what YOU consider "non-canon". As for Batman and the like, I think Subtank misunderstood you when she said it was AVPU 'canon'. Google the comics and you'll see those stories take place in the DCU in some "Elseworlds" version complete with their own Preds and xenos. (Someday I think an article about the DC Preds and xenos would be cool!) Hey if E.T. can show up in Phantom Menace, then why not? ;) Officially licensed appearance /intercompany crossover? Yep. But canon? No way. And look at Wookieepedia and Memory Alpha and you'll see they even use different levels of canon within their Expanded Universes. What is the AVPU but the Alien franchise plus Predators? We could easily call the AVPU the "Alien:Expanded Universe" , with its genesis in the original Dark Horse series and Alien vs. Predator. That's cool. I thought it'd be nice to have a place for people to go who only want to talk about the gaming side of things. 1) It lets people know that although this isn't a full on Gaming wiki, the gaming community's dedication to all things AvP is still appreciated, and 2) it provides an outlet for really technical gameplay details which could be left out of the main articles. I got the idea after reading some of our Games articles and their talk pages, which seem to be full of cheat codes, walkthroughs, tips, stuff like that. You know, the only time I truly loved algebra was when I had a teacher who started talking about how it applied to rockets. That got my attention and changed my whole attitude about mathematics in general. When we finally do make contact with an alien race, we'll probably be using mathematics to communicate. Prime numbers that can only be divided by themselves and the number one for instance. If you're listening for an alien signal and you hear 1 pulse, followed by 2 pulses, then 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13...you know you've got something that doesn't happen naturally. You can use algebra to build a house or send a rocket to the moon, but it's a real snore if you don't have fun or relevant examples. You ever read those "Science of..." books? There's a Science of Star Wars, Physics of Superheroes...Seriously, I think it's the teachers that make these things seem boring and irrelevant.-----CadmiumX99 03:18, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

Hey I thought Category:Notable survivors of xenomorph attacks and Survivors of Predator hunts would be a good replacement for Category:Yuatja/Xenomorph killers, which needs to be renamed anyway for spelling. Help needed. Edit
We are being vandalized by user The14th. He has ignored statements about what is and isn't canon from The Alien blu-ray collection feature (Alien Saga). He has ignored statements made by a crew member of Prometheus "We tried not to violate canon wherever possible; but the canon's not completely coherent and in the end story wins." Which is true even with the regular Alien movies. If Avp was non-canon they would have said it in the tweet. He is ignoring the fact that when anyone names a company say Weyland Industries its name legally is not changeable say calling it Weyland corp, Weyland dynamics, those are sub groups, and they all have different logos, all three of them.
