Aliens: Colonial Marines is an upcoming video game developed by Gearbox Software and published by Sega. After the death of Ellen Ripley in Alien 3, the USCMC begin to investigate the incident aboard the LV-426. The game will craft an entirely new, interactive Alien experience. Species of aliens from the film series, as well as new, original types have been introduced. The game includes an online multiplayer mode along with a fully developed story.

The game is described as a true sequel to James Cameron's film, the story of Aliens: Colonial Marines takes place after the events of the third film. The story is told through the eyes of Winter, a Colonial Marine that is part of the search and rescue team sent to investigate the USS Sulaco in search of Ellen Riply, Corporal Dwayne Hicks, and the rest of the team onboard the LV-426. The Sulaco, LV-426, and the derelict alien spacecraft all serve as environments in the game.

Aliens: Colonial Marines ia a sci-fi/horror first-person shooter which puts the player in the role of a United States Colonial Marine as seen in the film Aliens. The game will include no HUD (Heads Up Display) to provide the player with onscreen information. Players will gain experience when killing enemies and completing objectives, and these points can be used to change the appearance of their character, upgrade weapons, and unlock skill sets. The Wii U version of the game will also include a special integration that allows players to use the GamePad controller as a motion tracker. The game has been described as "Gauntlet Runs", with players fighting enemies as they rush from Point A to Point B.

The primary enemies of the game are the Xenomorphs from the first three Alien films, which include the Facehugger, Chestburster, and Drone aliens from Alien, the Warrior and the Queen from Aliens, and the Runner alien from Alien 3. The game will also include never before seen Xenomorphs created by Gearbox. The details on these new alien types have been kept to a a minimum, but Gearbox has revealed one of these new types, called the Crusher.

Aliens: Colonial Marines features a campaign with dynamic drop-in/drop out cooperative multiplayer that supports up to 4 players online or 2 players locally. Gameplay footage has revealed players fighting as aliens against marines. Also features is the Escape Mode, which is a 4 vs. 4 mode. Players choose between Marines or Xenomorphs, which the humans attempting to escape to a safe zone. Survivor, another mode, requires Marines to survive at all costs against the Xenomorph horde.

The game follows Corporal Christopher T. Winter, a member of the military branch USCM, who is part of a search and rescue team sent to the Zeta II Reticuli system aboard the USS Sephora to investigate the USS Sulaco. Winter was born and raised in Pender, Nebraska and shows strong leadership skills and excels in detection and firepower. Other members of Winter's unit include Rook, a Synthetic crew member, the acting field commander T. Shannon, and the expert in firepower, Bella.
