- How about the whole thing? Where is this stuff coming from? 04:54, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
speculation from what we know in the series and i guess its up to us to fill in eh? what if its... we could write up some different stories/outcomes with supporting facts weighing out the likeliness and see what gets made into a film? -user:CyranoJones
Where the heck did the Jockey race's name come from?! What is the source? --Banjo oz 07:01, December 7, 2009 (UTC)
Where/what is the source of this information ?? "The species was once thought to have telepathic powers, but the Weyland-Yutani Corporation scientists have found this not to be true, from certain information deciphered off the logging device" 184.108.40.206 02:50, October 11, 2012 (UTC)GreenLight 11-10-12
@User:220.127.116.11 Could you tell me where you got information that the Pilots are not telepathic? I haven't seen anything that shows this. One interesting thing to point out is that in last story in Aliens omnibus book 1 the humans thought that the Pilot could not tell that they (humans) had infiltrated its ship with Androids. It later went nuts and ripped the androids to pieces just like in Prometheus. It is possible/likely it could tell they where synthetic in both story's.--WAVE (talk) (Contribs) 19:02, October 11, 2012 (UTC)
@--WAVE sry i don't remember of the beat, but the quote i quoted above is from this wiki, somewhere, and thats why I asked. It's been long time now since I read it so thats all the help I can really give if anything.
There is no way the engineers would only be 350+ lbs. The tallest man in history is slightly under 9 feet and he already weighed 600 lbs while being skinny. The taller and much more muscular engineer should be around 850+ lbs.
I agree, lets just put this in the therois section...T-888 14:58, March 8, 2010 (UTC)
XenoFan 17:08, April 2, 2010 (UTC):Why not merge the articles?
Merge / name change Edit
Merged the Mala'kak article with Space Jockey and renamed it Pilot. Although "Space Jockey" is the popular nickname, as far as I know it's never been used by someone "in-universe". On the other hand, "Pilot" is what H.R. Giger originally called it, (Giger's Alien), and has been used frequently in-universe in the comics and their novel adaptations.-----CadmiumX99 06:31, April 29, 2010 (UTC) Note:- The logging device found on board the derelict space vessel, has been deciphered, and it has been discovered that the civilisation that the "Space Jockey" belongs to is known as Ossians, as they call themselves, their home planet is the 4th from the star Gamma Triangulum in the constellation of the Triangle, as seen from Earth. The location of the Xenomorph home planet remains, as yet, unknown.
Merge verified info back into article Edit
This is the former Theories section, which actually contains quotable material, if its researched and verified. I put it here for now----CadmiumX99 07:21, April 29, 2010 (UTC)
- "They are thought by some to be the creators of the Xenomorphs. They call themselves Mala'kak and are sometimes referred to as Pilots. The pilots also collected queens to avoid venturing deeper into alien territory but queens overtime got smarter and overwhelmed their tamers. This has been proven in some AVP comics where space jockey corpses can be seen on their crashed ships.
The tubular extension is not a nose. There is a distinct strip of flesh overlapping it at the base of the neck, strongly suggesting that it is in fact an internal part of the anatomy. Furthermore, if you look closely at the area where the tube joins with the skull, you can see what appears to be an orifice of some kind, not unlike the nasal orifices of a human skull. Finally, there is no discernible division between the tube and the ribcage. Xeno the Hedgehog 05:12, July 13, 2010 (UTC)
The article suggests (variously) a height of 7', 10', etc. That's a pretty big variation. Having just watched the film, and assuming average height for the human male characters (about 5'9") it looks to me the Engineers are 9'~10' tall. That's about 50% taller than us. Note that the Space Jockey in Alien is much larger than the Engineers in Prometheus, appearing to be about 15' long while incorporated into the pilot's chair, again relative to the human actors. 18.104.22.168 05:54, June 12, 2012 (UTC)
- Can it be remains of a facehugger?
- Because of this informations, we can understand how their homeworld look like. It is planet with low-gravity in comparation with Earth (they are tall). Homestar have low intensity of ultra-violet light => they are very pale. But probably high intensity of infrared => they do not have any hair. Their eyes form and evolution have probably relation with ultra-violet light, but I can not exactly say what. This is just for curious:) Adam100 (talk) (Contribs) 15:14, June 11, 2013 (UTC)

Engineer Images Edit

From russian cam.
Multiple pages for Engineers/JockeysEdit
I say that there should be multiple pages for the Engineers for their various appearances. They are clearly different in Destroying Angels than they are in Prometheus. So there should be a page called "Space Jockey (Destroying Angels)." This page would be about that particular non-canon incarnation of the Jockey.BloodyPooProductions (talk) (Contribs) 02:15, June 11, 2012 (UTC)
@BloodyPooProductions. It is confirmed that four mediums are in one saga, movies, comics, novels, games. Ergo they are canon. They will not be getting a separate page. The reason they may look different is because they are using a different model biomechanical suit. After all the main character even pointed out "the eyes looked dead." Should would make that mistake if she didn't know that what she was looking at were not eyes, but lenses.--WAVE (talk) (Contribs) 19:35, June 12, 2012 (UTC)
Only one? Edit
Am I only one who think the Engineers are in Prometheus handsome?126.96.36.199 13:36, June 11, 2012 (UTC)
Believe me, no you are not. . .
Age Issues Edit
In the article, it talks about the Engineers as if they were there when the Earth had no life. Wouldn't it make more sense if they were there when Earth had life, and their DNA infected existing pre-humans? I mean, for them to seed life hundreds of millions of years in the past and have a species almost completely identical to them, in terms of genetics, rise up would be almost completely impossible.
I have a theory:
1. The Engineers spread their DNA in an attempt to colonize other planets, maybe the whole universe. Why ferry colonists around, when you need just one guy to build a whole civilization over time?
2. The Engineers use the Black Liquid to cleanse planets prior to the "colonization".
3. The Engineers created mankind in their image. Mankind passed the first tests: That's why the Engineers left the coordinates of LV-223 on Earth.
However the Engineers became dissatisfied later on, maybe for racist/religious reasons (remember the giant head-statue). They decided to scrap the whole Earth-project. Maybe they would have started anew, once mankind was gone and their bio-weapons had died out due to a lack of hosts. 188.8.131.52 18:16, August 12, 2012 (UTC)
Incorrect information Edit
This article does not take the deleted scenes of Prometheus into consideration. Most notably the Engineer's awakening. David and him had a conversation first. He seemed pissed about being woken up, then Weyland started bitchin' about immortality and basically said he was on equal terms to the Engineer. The Engineer asks why he would want to live forever. Weyland said they were both gods and gods should live forever. The Engineer then proceeds to kill the crew (except for Shaw). Later when he confronts her in the lifepod he seems almost passive...until Shaw attacks him. Just some food foor though. If you need verification just google "14 mins of Deleted scenes Prometheus." 184.108.40.206 17:48, September 25, 2012 (UTC)
I presume the dvds have only just come out, so info would not be here straight away, also not having deleted scene info does not = incorrect info. Deleted info should be in the trivia or behind the scenes section. The Cruentus (talk) (Contribs) 09:55, September 26, 2012 (UTC)
Engineers didn't create the first micro-organisms on Earth. Edit
The article states the following:
"In Prometheus, it is shown that a lone Engineer was possibly responsible for the creation of the human race. He sacrificed himself as his people left the empty Earth, drinking chemicals that dissolved him and changed his DNA to the planet's first micro-organisms. Humanity soon developed, making the Engineers the ancestors of the human race. As such, human DNA and Engineer DNA are virtually identical. "
This is erronous. In the prologue of Prometheus, we are shown aerial footage of Earth, with clear views of green covering mountains and plantlife. It seems true that the Engineers jumpstarted human evolution, but certainly not biological life as a whole.

I think thay should seprate engineer and space jovcky becausre what if an engineer is a class of space jocky that was invoved in the creation of humanitny maybe the one from promethus is one of the space jocky scientist like with the other ones in the base an engineer class18.104.22.168 20:50, November 6, 2012 (UTC)
That is speculation which is not a good enough reason, we don't make separate pages unless we have a good reason to, though sometimes individuals of a species get their own page. The Cruentus (talk) (Contribs) 21:06, November 6, 2012 (UTC)
so do you think that there should be part of this page that tells about the engineer class22.214.171.124 21:18, November 6, 2012 (UTC)
Well as far as we know, there are no classes as it will be just speculation if we think they did have any as engineers/spacejockeys are still not fully understood. Like humans. they could possibly come in all shapes and sizes but we don't know much about them and so it just speculation for now. The Cruentus (talk) (Contribs) 21:28, November 6, 2012 (UTC)
class theory Edit
I think that space jockys have a class society thier are the engineers whom created humans the sacrifices whom job is to bring life to planets by driking black liquid and dying then there a the priest thay are the ones whom are incharge of the sacrifices as shown in the dvd I seems likley as not all the space jocky race could have made humanity126.96.36.199 18:39, November 12, 2012 (UTC)praetorionmaster97
I discovered this on the Internet... Edit
It tells us that the Engineers were indeed on good terms with the humans they sired until two thousand years ago, as the crew in Prometheus guessed. The reason they decided to wipe out the humans was that they were getting too violent and were killing each other (the Roman Empire in a few words). The Engineers sent down an emissary to get them to calm down, and the humans didn`t listen to their creator's representant. The humans promptly condemned the emissary.
The Engineers then set out to kill them with some of the lethal pathogen that spawned the Deacon after the events of Prometheus, probably a prototype of sorts for the Xenomorph as a bioweapon; although this may not be the case, as dozens of ships on their homeworld possessed this same liquid. The Engineers also sent 'messages' through the culture of the humans to lure them into space to make it that much easier to kill them off.
Sometime after this the four Engineers retreated into their hypersleep chambers, only one surviving. From that point onward the events of Prometheus take over.
This is what I discovered:
In fact, the original script for Prometheus flat out explained why Earth was targeted for destruction, and the reasoning ties into Scott’s thoughts on religion. They ultimately felt the idea was lacking in subtlety and scrapped it, but Scott elaborated on the plot point to Movies.com and his comments may provide a hint as to where the follow-up could go:
“We definitely did [have that in the script], and then we thought it was a little too on the nose. But if you look at it as an ‘our children are misbehaving down there’ scenario, there are moments where it looks like we’ve gone out of control, running around with armor and skirts, which of course would be the Roman Empire. And they were given a long run. A thousand years before their disintegration actually started to happen. And you can say, ‘Lets’ send down one more of our emissaries to see if he can stop it. Guess what? They crucified him.’

I heard about this as well but the whole concept and story was dropped because it was too close to christian history and it either upset a lot of folks or could have because none of them apparantly liked the idea of jesus being an alien or the implication of it. "Scientific" Name Edit
This should be changed to say binominal name.
they are kind of like the forerunners of the halo universe
Why were The Engineers are now hostile to the Species they created *Humans*? Edit
I don't know if anyone has the answer just yet since a sequel to promethus is still underway, but why were the last remaining Engineer on LV 426 attacked Peter Weyland,David and the other scientists and explorers that were trying to reason with them and even tried to kill Elizabeth Shaw as well after janek proceeds to ram the promethus on the engineer's shuttle? (184.108.40.206 22:55, June 18, 2013 (UTC))
- Simple answer: we don't know. Some people suggest they were unimpressed with how violent we'd become, so they were going to wipe us out (similar to the Great Flood in the Bible). Maybe it will be explained in the sequel.--Leigh Burne (talk) (Contribs) 07:37, June 19, 2013 (UTC)
Predator/Engineer War' Isn't it possible that a Predator ship shot down the Derelict Ship? I mean, if a shot grazed the ship, that might activate the eggs, right? And the Predators may have hunted the Jockey Xenomorph and killed it. That's why there's no evidence of the chest buster.
Prometheus film timeleine - Jesus was Engineer Emissary, hence Engineers desire to wipe out human race 2000 years ago. Edit
I read somewhere on these many webpages that in the storyline of Prometheus, they were going to have Jesus be as an emissary of the Engineers, and it was because he was killed that the Engineers decided to wipe the human race out. This would tie in with the 2000 year timeline.
Mistake in text Edit
In Predator: Fire and Stone, a physical fight between an experienced Predator and an Engineer shows the latter to be far stronger with it dominating the fight, shrugging off a plasma bolt and heavily wounding the predator, causing it to rely on its stealth tactics.
The above paragraph doesn't make sense, it should be the former, not the latter. 220.127.116.11 20:24, March 17, 2017 (UTC)
