Hey, I switched up the Main Page layout a bit. All I did was flip two things and I took out the reno notice, seeing as how we're all in the process of renovating! That image of the AvPvMarine is just too cool. I thought it might catch the eye faster if it was up top.CadmiumX99 06:36, March 8, 2010 (UTC)

So, you may have noticed a few changes. This is my stab at the Main Page, and I just decided to take a go at it. I've been checking out other wikis and learning more cool stuff about how they're put together. I bumped up the px on Subtank's awesome AvPvMarine image. Plus I did some research on the Weyland Yutani font and downloaded Acens (replaced Papyrus font in Xenopedia) from fonts4free.com. I also updated the Predators image. Used Template: Mainpage IU from Wookieepedia to list our categories for easier browsing. All the image files are image maps so just click on 'em and go. Sorry I couldn't figure out how to keep the original desciptions and the lists of comics and novels, etc., but I think we could use the space for Quotes of the Day, Did you Know?, and the latest news updates on the AvP universe. Dates

Can I please ask that we remove references to the twenty-second and twenty-fourth centuries? (I've already brought this up on the talk page for USM Auriga, but thought that this might be a less obscure site for bringing it up) As far as I can tell, these dates are 'educated quesses' at best and seem to have no basis in a canon source. New picture/logo/whatever

Would it be possible for us to get a new picture up at the upper-left hand corner? Right now its just the movie poster for the Alien vs Predator movie. I noticed alot of the other wikis have the name of their subject and then the word "wiki". More admins

.....Doctor Who?! Jeez, in that case, if a page is so clearly non-affiliated with the franchise, I say deletion of such articles should be given top priority. Actually that brings me to a point I kinda wanted to make. There needs to be a little more discipline when editing articles. I mean I had to delete the phrase "You got rick rolled" from one page about a xeno type. Also editors need to remember to paste their sig when on discussion pages. I agree that would help cut down on the extraneous material. Another thing we need to do is just place something somewhere and leave it. I've seen the Predator (species) page jump around at least 3 times this week alone.--Zervziel 21:51, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

Dead Characters Category

Do we really need this category? It's too broad, it basically applies to every character. How about something more specific like Category: Predator kills, or Category: Death by xenomorph? CheersCadmiumX99 08:48, February 26, 2010 (UTC)

Good point. Any non-main character from any given movie, game, comic has about a 80% chance of dying horribly. To list them is kinda pointless. Actually it'd be easier to just list hose who don't die.--Zervziel 22:27, February 26, 2010 (UTC)

How about "Survivors of Predator/ Xenomorph attacks" or "Notable Survivors of Xenomorph/Predator attacks" would include Ripley (Alien 3 notwithstanding) Dutch Schaefer, etc. CadmiumX99 05:37, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

Xenomorph Prime

Do we really have to classify Xenomorph prime as every Xeno's homeworld? I would think that the planet they were on when they chestbursted would be thier homeworld.--LastJedi1515 ^(talk) 15:34, March 1, 2010 (UTC)

I agree. It really only makes sense if we're talking about the homeworld of the entire species, which should be covered in the main article. "Place of Birth" is more accurate for individuals, especially the spacefaring races with FTL travel and colonies. For the Xenos, what about "Place of burst"? As I see it the term "homeworld" refers to the planet of a species origin as Cadmium mentioned. For humans that'd be Terra, Earth, or even the Sol system if you feel like just referring to system names. Actually system names would cover several planets. If a character was born on Mars it's be the same system as Earth so just referring to a home-system would help cut down of the splitting of hairs.--Zervziel 21:56, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

It might look a little bunched up at the moment, but I just figured out how to make png. files like on Halopedia, and I'm learning about dark skins, so I hope to smooth it out soon. Just wanted to let all of you know that I'm glad Xenopedia is back and active. :)

The Social Profiles are exclusive only in Halopedia because the wiki is actually a test-bed for the current Wikia Social System. Such features you see today such as the Blogs are actually tested in Halopedia. As such, they are only in Beta-phase (meaning some of the features were broken) and will remain in so until Wikia decides to add something new ^{Halopedia is Wikia's Guinea Pig!}. I'm sure the Point System would be cool with Xenopedia as it will most definitely encourage users to contribute to the site. Unfortunately, like I said before, it is only exclusive to certain test wikis like Halopedia...

If you need any help with the Main Page layout, don't be hesitate to ask me. I've done several Main Page redesign over the few months; Halopedia's Main Page back in early 2009 and DeadSpace Wiki's Main Page in late 2009. Just a suggestion: Since most of the AVP franchise revolves around Xenomorphs causing havoc and chaos, wouldn't it be far suitable to have the Hive Webbing skin?

Questions? Super Black Predator/Killers

Do you think the new Super Black Predator is the beginings of the Killer Predators in the comics.... Being that this is 2010 and Machicko Noguchi takes place 200 years from now is this maybe the begining of that story line????

I like it in general, though I think it could be a bit smaller so as not to clash with the wonderful art and the xenopedia logo, which rock.

Secondly, I personally have become pretty adamant on the title of the series being "Aliens vs. Predator" since that is the new standard title being used on all the AVP series now, be it the comics Omnibuses, new series, new video games, and the latest film of the series, requiem. Also, every major video game for the past 10 years has used "Aliens" plural. Funnily, this has actually become my new point of contention with the guy on wikipedia, cause he's plastered the place with "Alien (singular) vs. Predator" as his prefered form. While I understand there's plenty of leeway with casual references, and even Dark Horse comics themselves currently have a subhead on their avp zone that uses the singular Alien vs. Predator (which they also have a trademark on), i think the title that most accurately represents the franchise as a whole is Aliens vs. Predator.

Thanks man! If by page you mean Xenopedia itself, I can't take credit for that, that would be User:Colonial-marine32 waaay back in 2006. Type "Wiki.png" in the search box to see past versions of the logo. User:Subtank first uploaded that kickass AvPvMarine image. I've been monkeying around with it since. Can you give me an idea, percentage wise, how much smaller "Alien(s) vs. Predator" should be? Maybe like 90%-ish? More? I thought it was important to include some version of "AvP Wiki" in there. Here was my thinking:

"AvP Wiki" would easily resolve the singular v. plural issue, but maybe it's not descriptive enough.
"Aliens vs. Predator Wiki"--1)It's the title of the Dark Horse comics series that started it all, 2)Being a sequel, "Aliens" is the official beginning of the "Alien" Expanded Universe, which eventually would spawn more sequels, spinoffs, and crossovers with the Predator franchise.
"Alien vs. Predator Wiki"--Although it started with the Dark Horse comic series, the film Alien vs. Predator officially tied the mythos together on film---references to Bishop, Weyland, etc.---which some people consider to be more "canon" than comics. Maybe that's your "friend"'s reasoning? What's canon in AvP is a whole different ball of monkeys, I won't get into it here. (Dark Horse novelized most of the Aliens comics, so wouldn't the comics be "more canon"?) Bottom line, unless anybody objects, I'll change it to Aliens and squishify it. Hard to read text

Canon/expanded universe.

this wiki definitely needs some serious editing, everywhere i go there is non-canon information mixed with the canon info.

i'm not asking you lot to delete but to move the info and seperate it from the movie info, so it will be like "in other sources" or "in the game.." "it can do this or that and can vomit nodes blah blah", you know what i mean?. all the games and comic info is mixed up with the movies and it should be seperated because seriously...this wiki is a mess! no offence of course, i just believe in putting the proper information into its right spot.

in the films, there is no carrier, ravager or nodes, so in the latters case, when in the drone page the node regurgitating part should be put under "non-canon/other media" further down the page.

another awful example is the facehugger page thats says they drawn into battle by carriers, that only happens in avp extinction! so that little info should be seperated.

basically what the aliens or predators have done/can do etc in games and comic should not be mixed up with the movie versions.
