Stannison is a character in Prometheus (2012) played by actor Guy Pearce. It is possible Stannison could be a synthetic of Peter Weyland (who Pearce also plays in the film), or vice versa.

According to an interview with Guy Pearce from MTV, his character will only be in the film briefly. He says, "I'm only [in the film] for a minute, but it was a real honor to work with Ridley Scott, to see what was going on. I think Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace and Charlize Theron and everybody will do a really spectacular job."

This character is in fact Peter Weyland. He travels in the Prometheus spaceship while in hypersleep inside a concealed section of the craft and communicates with the android David.
