Ron Cobb (born 1937) is an American cartoonist, artist, writer, film designer and film director who served as a concept artist on the 1979 film Alien and the 1986 film Aliens. Other notable films Cobb has worked on include Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977), Back to the Future (1985), The Abyss (1989), Total Recall (1990) and True Lies (1994).
For Alien, Cobb contributed to the exterior (miniature) look of the Nostromo and designed many of the spacecraft's interior sets. He also put forward designs for LV-426, the derelict and the titular Alien, before H. R. Giger was hired to design these extraterrestrial aspects of the film. On Aliens, Cobb designed the interior of the Sulaco.
