Template:Infobox Director Sir Ridley Scott (born November 30, 1937) is an English film director and producer who directed the 1979 film Alien, the 2012 film Prometheus and the 2017 film Alien: Covenant. He also produced Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. Scott is the father of director Luke Scott, was the elder brother of late director Tony Scott, and is the partner of actress Giannina Facio, whom he has cast in many of his films. Other notable films Scott has directed include the seminal sci-fi classic Blade Runner (1982), Thelma & Louise (1991), Gladiator (2000), Hannibal (2001), Black Hawk Down (2001) and The Martian (2015).
Scott has been nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Director (for Thelma & Louise, Gladiator and Black Hawk Down), plus two Golden Globes and three BAFTA Awards. For his work on Alien, he won a Saturn Award for Best Director. His directing of both Alien and Prometheus makes him the only person to direct more than one film in the Alien, Predator and Alien vs. Predator franchises. In 2003, Scott was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace for his "services to the British film industry".
