Richard Corben is a critically acclaimed American comic book painter and artist who has worked as both cover and interior artist on two Aliens and Aliens vs. Predator projects for Dark Horse Comics.

A much celebrated alternative-comics artist of the 1970s and 80s, Corben is perhaps most well known in the field for his work with Heavy Metal Magazine, where he carved out a particular niche for his pseudo-grotesque style of visceral painted artwork. Corben also collaborated with celebrated sci-fi author Harlan Ellison to continue the story from Ellison's well-known novel A Boy and His Dog, in the graphic novella Vic and Blood. He is also credited as being a pioneer in the graphic novel medium, with his story Blood Star sometimes called the "first graphic novel" ever made.

He also illustrated the famous Bat Out of Hell album cover for rock and roll artist Meatloaf.

Numerous well known figures in the comics and visual arts fields have praised Corben's work over time, including Aliens conceptual artist H.R. Gieger who said of Corben: "People like the American Richard Corben...are, in my view, maestros."
