Rebecca “Newt” Jorden was the sole survivor on the Hadley’s Hope settlement on Acheron LV-426. The USCMC team which was dispatched to Acheron in 2179 discovered Rebecca Jorden hiding in a ventilation system. She became a constant companion to Lt. Ellen Ripley during the infestation of Hadley's Hope.

[edit] Survival

Rebecca, "Newt", was one of the colonists that landed on LV-246 and lived there, commanded by Burke. Rebecca was with her father, mother and brother in a car when they stumbled upon the ship from Alien. She and Timmy were left alone in the car while her parents investigated, and was shocked when later her mother returned, carrying her father on her back - a Facehugger on his face.Later the Marines found Newt in the air ducts, scared and deranged. Ripley takes Newt back to the Marines tempoary HQ. Newt and Ripley start growing a bond. Ripley gets trapped in a room with Newt with two Facehuggers and rescues Newt from the Alien Queen.

Although Rebecca survived the events on Acheron, she was attacked by a stowaway Facehugger while in cryosleep. The creature had to burn holes into her cryo chamber to impregnate her. Rebecca and Corporal Hicks were killed when their cryo chambers failed following the crash landing on Fiorina 161. Newt drowned form the burns that allowed her cryo chamber to be flooded. Ripley suspected that Newt was carrying an alien at the time of her death and Ripley convinced the the resident doctor, Jonathan Clemens to perform an autopsy with the reason she may have had cholora.  Rebecca Jorden was later cremated with Corporal Hicks on Fiorina 161.
