The pipe bomb was an improvised explosive device which, after being thrown, detonated on impact, creating an explosion lethal to humans and non-industrial synthetics in close proximity. It could also be placed as an explosive trap, triggering when a target approached it.
In 2137, residents aboard Sevastopol Station created blueprints to craft pipe bombs.
