Motinea was a planet orbiting the star GL447 in the Core Systems.
History[]
In 2179, Motinea was the location from whence the Weyland-Yutani Corporation research vessel USCSS Patna was dispatched to Fiorina 161 to recover Ellen Ripley, who had been stranded on the prison world. Michael Bishop was onboard the ship, hoping to obtain the embryonic Xenomorph Queen that Ripley was carrying.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Motinea is mentioned briefly in the novelization of Alien3 as the point of origin from which a ship, later identified as the Patna, is inbound to Fiorina 161. It is not mentioned in the film, a trait that also adheres to the designation of the Patna, which is only named in the novel.
