"The Kramer is a slow-firing, hard-hitting assault rifle. Less effective at long range due to a much heavier recoil, it compensates up close with impressive stopping power."
Kramer Assault Rifle description (from Aliens: Fireteam Elite)

The Kramer Assault Rifle, alternately referred to as the Kramer, was an automatic assault rifle manufactured by Kramer Metallarbeiten GmBH and used by the United States Colonial Marine Corps during the late 22nd century.

Overview[]

The Kramer Assault Rifle was a major success for its manufacturer, Kramer Metallarbeiten GmBH, despite being heftier than most assault rifles of its time. The Kramer's superior firepower, as well as its easy configuration into a belt-fed squad automatic weapon using its attached bipod, made it popular with mercenaries as well as private military contractors in the late 2170s. This popularity was a latent threat to Armat Battlefield Systems's profits, and prompted them to buy Kramer Metallarbeiten GmBH in 2178. The Kramer's ability to hole the Union of Progressive Peoples' Shikra-ZJ armored EVA suits also made the weapon a success with the United States Colonial Marine Corps. In 2188, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation tried to counter the Kramer Assault Rifle's popularity among the private contracting market by releasing the Type 88 Heavy Assault Rifle; however, sales failed to materialize, and the attempt ended in failure.[1]

Notable users[]

Originally released in 2168 for private military contractors and the civilian market, the Kramer Assault Rifle was procured for Colonial Marine service in 2180, two years after Kramer Metallarbeiten GmBH was bought by Armat Battlefield Systems. It also saw service among colonial militias.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Kramer Assault Rifle made its first appearance in the novel Aliens: Rogue, in which it is described as a high-speed automatic rifle. The rifle can also be acquired in Aliens: Fireteam Elite via a random drop by finishing a mission in Intense difficulty, and can be equipped by Gunner, Demolisher, Doc and Recon classes. Here, however, it is described as a slow-firing, hard-hitting assault rifle, and has the lowest rate of fire of any automatic rifle.
