Hank was a member of the flight control staff working at Charon Base. He led an armed civilian insurrection at the facility that planned to overthrow Professor Kleist, but instead had to battle the disastrous Xenomorph outbreak that led to the destruction of the base and the death of the majority of its inhabitants.

Hank was one of the few survivors of the incident, escaping Charon Base aboard the Caliban. He subsequently entered a relationship with the Claiban's captain Joyce Palmer, who also survived the destruction of the facility.
