Frank Teran is an American comic book and video game concept artist who worked on the comics Aliens: 45 Seconds and Aliens: Havoc for Dark Horse Comics. He is known for his gritty, rough-hewn pencilling style which lends itself to horror illustration.

BiographyEdit

Active in the comics field since the 1994, Teran has worked for a variety of leading comics companies including Marvel, DC, Vertigo, Image, and Dark Horse; and for independent companies such as Verotik and Boom! Studios.

Working mostly as a single-issue artist throughout his comics career, Teran is perhaps most known for his work with Marvel's The Punisher (three issues), DC's Batman (four issues), Vertigo's Hellblazer (two issues), and Verotik's Jaguar God (two issues). He has also worked on prominent DC series Green Arrow, and Marvel series featuring Sabretooth, KaZar, Spider-Man, and the Hulk.

Elsewhere for Dark Horse, Teran provided art for a Terminator story in Dark Horse Presents #138 and on the company's short tenure with the GI Joe series. Most recently in the comics field, Teran provided issue for Boom Studios' zomie series Fear the Dead in 2006.

In 2007, Teran joined in the formation of the successful new, downtown Austin, Texas-based video game developing company Red Fly Studio as staff concept artist effectively shifting his career focus to the gaming industry.

Co-founded by Teran and a number of video game industry veterans, to date the company has shipped 4 Nintendo Wii titles, including LucasArts' Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, Ghostbusters, and Mushroom Men, for which he did extensive concept design work. Red Fly team members' have former game developing experience on high profile titles such as Gears of War, Deus Ex, Saints Row, Darksiders, and others. Teran's artwork also adorns the walls of the Red Fly building and the company's work spaces to help inspire its staff. He continues to serve as lead concept artist for the company.

In August 2010, Red Fly announced that it is currently creating the upcoming Wii and PSP versions of Thor.

Though the company is based in Texas, Teran has continued to live and work in New Jersey.

Teran's uncle, Gerard Martowlis, has also constructed his own functioning rocket pack.
