"I'm career corps. Fifteen years in. Enough miles on the clock to know that nothing ever fits the "standard" label -- and that "worst case" is a lousy phrase to toss around with the pin out."
Paget (from Predator: Life and Death)

Captain Paget was a member of the United States Colonial Marine Corps. She was commander of a 31-Marine platoon aboard the combat ship Hasdrubal that landed on the planet LV-797, kick-starting a massive series of events that led to an all out battle for survival against a clan of Yautja, mutated Xenomorphs and the godlike Engineers.

Paget was notably one of the few survivors of the disastrous operation.

Biography[]

Before the drop[]

"Listen up -- We're dropping for a surface sweep. Unlicensed prospecting. Illegal asset stripping. Tread lightly, please. If there's anything to be solved, let's try to solve it with reason and conversation."
Paget briefing her platoon (from Predator: Life and Death)

Aboard the flight deck of the Hasdrubal, Captain Paget discussed matters with Weyland-Yutani representative Lorimer; Paget and her crew were to investigate LV-797, nicknamed Tartarus, a Wey-Yu-purchased planet under suspicion of illegal prospecting by rival corporations, specifically Seegson.

During briefing, Paget introduced her men to Lorimer and went over the mission with them. She informed them that if any pirates were encountered, they were authorized to resolve the matter peacefully, specifically warning the foul-mouthed Jhalil and trigger-happy Freebody of reckless behavior.

Exploring the planet[]

"I've got six dead, Lorimer. Three confirmed, three presumed. Several other Marines are carrying injuries. That ship is defended by highly aggressive Xenoforms. They have already slaughtered ninety percent of Humble's team -- just for showing an interest. I am not initiating open war with an unknown species on your say-so -- not without exploring all possibilities."

Paget's squad discover the Juggernaut.

Two Marine dropships detached from the Hasdrubal and landed on Tartarus. Paget split the platoon in two, with her leading one squad and Sergeant Roth the other. Whilst exploring the terrain, Paget's squad was met with a Seegson excavation site, and later an Engineer Juggernaut. Paget asked Singer why they were unable to see the ship from orbit, the latter unsure. Roth suddenly radioed in, informing Paget and her squad that they had recovered Seegson asset-stripper Laurence Goode. Paget and her squad regrouped at the excavation site, and she interrogated Goode on what happened, with Goode saying that his crew were slaughtered by unknown assailants.

Paget ordered Roth's squad to search for any remnants of Goode's crew, whilst she discussed with Lorimer their approach with the Engineer derelict. Lorimer argued with Paget about having her men secure the Engineer vessel, whilst Paget wanted to take it slow, especially following the revelation that three Marines from her squad, Chimo, Garland and Herrman, had recently gone missing.

Later, Paget heard the sound of Smartgun fire in the distance. Suddenly, two more survivors of the excavation team emerged and greeted Paget - Melville and Captain Humble. Paget attempted to contact Roth and his squad, to no avail. It was revealed that Roth and his squad were caught up in a brutal firefight with a clan of Yautja.

Plan to secure the derelict[]

"That's a clean way of ending this fight. We just lift the thing these bastards are gunning for right out from under' them."
Paget regarding the plan to lift the Juggernaut (from Predator: Life and Death)

With Roth's squad reuniting with Paget at the excavation site, Melville explained to the Marines that the hunters seemed to be treating the ship as an artefact, and that they were protecting it from invaders, wishing to recover it's secrets for themselves. Lorimer instructed Paget to seize the vessel, reminding her of her "legally mandated responsibility" under the company.

Paget decided to send Sergeant Roth and his team (alongside Humble and Melville) into one of their dropships to fly over to the Juggernaut and secure its interior whilst Paget's team approached the vessel by foot, attempting to sweep the forest using M314 Motion Trackers to flush out the hunters.

Paget's squad suddenly became ambushed by a large number of Predators and a brutal skirmish ensued, whilst Roth's squad eventually managed to get inside the interior of the derelict, with Singer citing that he could get the ship operational. While Paget was dealing with the hunters, a Yautja Elder, the Cracked Tusk Predator, who was stalking Roth's squad inside the Juggernaut, ordered all remaining Yautja to retreat to the vessel and stop the Marines. Roth's squad eventually managed to kill Cracked Tusk and get the derelict flying, with Singer intending to send it to the nearest USCM facility, Ganymede station. As Paget and her squad witnessed the Juggernaut lifting off, Delaria questioned Paget on the hunters. She replied with "they can find some other poor bastards to hunt. We are leaving".

Back at the Hasdrubal[]

With the Marines having returned to the Hasdrubal, Paget contacted Ganymede station on the flight deck about their find, warning them of the importance it held. Lorimer expressed concern with being unable to contact Roth and his squad inside the now operational derelict, though Paget disclosed his claim, citing that he simply cared about it's "dollar value".

It was revealed that Roth and the other Marines inside the derelict had awakened a hostile Engineer, which had taken control of the derelict, much to Paget and the other's unawareness. The vessel suddenly departed to an unknown destination. As Lorimer began to speak, Paget shut him up and ordered the Hasdrubal to follow the ship.

Arriving at LV-223 and rescuing Chris[]

"Let me be clear. This is a tactically poor option. It has very high failure threshold. It breaches operational advisories and the remit of our standing orders. If I ran it past command, it would not be sanctioned. This is a gut response. The worst kind of call someone like me can make. For that reason, this drop is volunteer only. Step out, you won't answer to me."
Paget briefing her remaining Marines (from Aliens: Life and Death)

For six days the Hasdrubal had followed the derelict until the ship reached the desolate moon LV-223. Paget would go on to land on the planet and take an APC to Roth's quarters, alongside Ancane and others. Paget was met with a surprised and relieved Roth, Freebody and Melville, who were also accompanied by Geryon survivor Jill. Roth and Paget embraced, and the group returned to the Hasdrubal.

Back at the ship, Paget was briefed on events during her absence, in which Roth's squad encountered the survivors of the Geryon incident, Angela Foster, Galgo Helder, Chris and Jill, and the Predator Ahab, after being attacked by a horde of Xenomorphs and two hulking Engineers. Roth desired to return to the planet to rescue Chris and fellow Marine, Rucker, who had been taken by the creatures to their hive, believing that no man should be left behind. Against better judgement, Paget briefed the remaining eighteen Marines in her platoon that they were launching a "volunteer only" rescue mission back on the moon.

The squad landed back on LV-223 and began exploring the terrain, before Jill suddenly picked up Chris' signal, who was still alive from within the hive. Following the revelation that Chris was impregnated with a Queen, Paget and her squad were ambushed by a horde of Xenos and later the Second Engineer, suffering devastating losses. However, the squad managed to retrieve Chris after the hive's current Queen erupted from the ground and assaulted the Engineer, impaling it with her tail. In the ensuing chaos, they returned to their dropship, only to see it in ruins (previously destroyed by the Engineer). Paget attempted to contact the Hasdrubal, but with no reply, unaware that the Tartarus Predator clan had boarded the ship and slaughtered all remaining crewmembers on board.

Stand-off at the temple[]

As Paget concluded that they had lost contact with the ship, the group decided to retreat back to the Engineer temple that Roth and his squad initially encountered. The squad returned to the temple to set up camp and waited for one of the Hasdrubal's automatic freight buses to pick them up.

The Tartarus Predator clan soon arrived on the moon, seeking revenge from their previous encounter with the Marines. After a confrontation between Ahab and the Clan Leader, the clan sided themselves with the Marines against an upcoming army of Xenomorphs approaching the temple, hellbent on retrieving Chris. The Marines and Predators both put up a tremendous effort against the Xenomorph army but their numbers began dwindling, the Alien horde seeping through. In a last ditch effort, Chris sacrificed herself by blowing herself up, alongside the Queen inside of her, sending the Xenomorphs into a retreat.

The Second Engineer is finally killed by Paget.

Ahab and the Tartarus clan took their leave, whilst the Marines waited at noon for the freight bus to arrive. Roth noticed a noise in the horizon, but Paget disclosed the sound, unaware that the Second Engineer had survived its encounter with the Queen.

The next morning as Paget was consoling with Jill about the loss of her wife, the squad was attacked by the Engineer, and they were forced to retreat inside the temple. Jill suggested using the Engineer's black goo against it. The rest helped her grab an ampule and poured it over the hallway where they first entered. The Engineer arrived and stepped on the liquid, which reacted aggressively to it's bio-suit, giving Paget the opportunity to gun down the Engineer for good.

The group all finally managed to return to the Hasdrubal using the freight bus, and they prepared to enter crystasis for a twenty-three week return trip to Earth. Paget created a status report, stating that she was tired, and cited that Angela, Singer and Humble were presumably decreased.

Personality and Traits[]

Paget was a stern, no-nonsense leader who felt largely responsible for the lives and safety of her crew, a feat that garnered great amounts of respect and loyalty from her platoon, specifically Delaria. She was far less enthusiastic towards serving under the company, believing that their interests lay in financial gain at the cost of her crew's lives. As such, she disliked Lorimer and kept him at a distance.

She was also a capable survivor, and managed to make it through her platoon's disastrous operation, at the cost of virtually all of her men's lives.
