XT-37 Stinger Fast Attack Vehicle

The XT–37 Stinger 4x4 Fast Attack Vehicle, also referred to as the XT–37 or Stinger, was a lightly armored off–road vehicle manufactured by Alphatech Hardware and mainly used by the United States Colonial Marine Corps.

Development and overview[]

The Stinger was developed by Alphatech Hardware to fulfil the role of a high speed and easily deployable vehicle for the United States Colonial Marine Corps; while an M577 Armored Personnel Carrier required the UD-4 "Cheyenne" Dropship transporting it to briefly land in order to unload, the Stinger could be ejected from its dropship at a low speed and altitude. Once landed, the XT–37 could achieve a top speed of 220 kilometers per hour, and was equipped with a double–barreled 50mm injection–cooled cannon and four Hellfire missiles.^[1]

Variants[]

XT-37C[]

The XT–37C was a civilian variant of the XT–37 used on colony worlds. It was equipped with a targeted snare–arm for wrangling wildlife.^[1]

Industrial variant[]

An industrial variant of the XT–37 was used at the TotalEnergies oil extraction site on LV-187. It was equipped with a winch.^[4]

History[]

The 3rd Battalion's 5th Regiment's armored recon platoon of the 33rd Marine Assault Unit maintained a contingent of six XT-37s fast attack vehicles.^[5] The USS Tamb'Itam possessed four of them.^[6]

In 2184, during Operation: Arcturian Apocalypse, on Arcturia, at least four XT-37s were stolen by the Children of the Two Divines. Two were used to patrol in the Flatlands, another to guard the Grand Kivas' main gate and another one is patrolling the carved roads of the Grand Kivas.^[7]

During Operation: Octopus Garden, on Pandora, Deep Void's Blackguard used at least two XT-37s on Darwin Island. One to patrol the western beach.^[8] and another one parked in the Rig's ground station.^[9]

The XT-37 was used by the Space Marines to handle Xenomorph threats. Apone and Hicks used one on Tanaka 5, Apone's was destroyed by a Scorpion Alien. They were later used to handle a Xenomorph infestation on TerraForm 3.

Trivia[]

The XT-37 made its first appearance in the Aliens Kenner toy line.
- In the Kenner toy the snare was made to capture Xenomorphs and the missiles were Alienator missiles with a 300-meters range.
