The Hive Wars Predator,[1] was a Yautja who ended up stranded on Xenomorph Prime.[1] It later became a member of a tribe of hunters that guarded an Engineer Juggernaut derelict on the planet LV-797, eventually encountering a platoon of Marines from the combat ship Hasdrubal.

Biography[]

Survival on Xenomorph Prime[]

The Hive Wars Predator originally hailed from an unknown tribe that partook in a Xenomorph hunt on Xenomorph Prime. The hunt was a disaster, leaving him the sole-survivor. Stranded with limited supplies, he crafted unique weapons using the wreckage of his crashed vessel, specifically a large scythe, and managed to survive on the planet for an indeterminate period of time.[1]

At some point, the Hive Wars Predator managed to escape Xenomorph Prime through unknown means. He went on to join a clan of Yautja, possibly headed by the Cracked Tusk Predator.

The Hive Wars Predator and his tribe had landed on the planet LV-797 and discovered an Engineer Juggernaut. Wanting to uncover the derelict's secrets for themselves, the tribe guarded the ship against any intruders, specifically a Seegson excavation squad that wanted to asset-strip the planet from it's original buyer, Weyland-Yutani.

Due to the suspicion of Seegson activity on the planet, the combat ship Hasdrubal and it's 31-USCM crew were assigned to investigate the planet. The tribe immediately began hunting the trespassers, with the Hive Wars Predator and the Cracked Tusk Predator killing three lone marines, Chimo, Garland and Herrman.

A search party of Marines were later sent out to sweep the area, consisting of Rucker, Stefopoulos, Bonito and Lee. Stefopoulos reported that nothing has been recovered, before the Hive Wars Predator suddenly emerged behind him. The others looked on in shock as the hunter impaled the Marine and then threw his lifeless body at Rucker, toppling him. Bonito began firing, shouting at Lee to run, but was swiftly grabbed by the Predator by the neck and pushed against a tree. Lee tried hitting the hunter with the butt of her pulse rifle, but to no avail. The Predator responded by punching her away and stabbing Bonito in the head.

Death[]

Rucker recovered and subsequently unloaded his Smartgun into the hunter's direction, accidentally directing his line of fire at Lee, killing her. He managed to wound the Predator, and it retreated into active camo. However, Rucker managed to trace its steps by following the blood from its wound. The hunter emerged and lunged at Rucker, but he opened fire on the hunter, fatally wounding it.

As Rucker looked over the dying hunter, it let out a smile. Suddenly, the Tartarus Clan surrounded Rucker, before Marine reinforcements drove them back. In the aftermath, the Marines looked over the Predator's corpse, alongside another they managed to kill in the firefight. Asset-stripper Melville told the Marines about the species, and how dangerous they were to him and the rest of the Seegson excavation team.

Equipment[]

The Hive Wars Predator's primary weapon was a large Scythe-like staff, custom made from craft wreckage on Xenomorph Prime. He was equipped with a bio-helmet that resembled the one used by the City Hunter, the only difference being that his helmet had a more skeletal-like structure on the forehead. He was also equipped with a half-chest plate of armor, as well as one piece of shoulder armor, much like the Jungle Hunter. On top of this, he was armed with a Plasmacaster.

As his primary weapon, the Hive Wars Predator used a scythe-like staff. He was also one of the few Yautja known to use Wristblades without a wrist gauntlet. His Wristblades were also uniquely curved.

Trivia[]

  • The Hive Wars Predator was originally an action figure created by Kenner Products for their Predator toy line, and later redesigned by NECA for the NECA Predator toy line. As such, he and the Cracked Tusk Predator are the first creatures from either universe that hailed from a toy-line to appear in an unrelated comic book series.
  • Although released as part of NECA's Predator toy line, the Hive Wars Predator figure was actually based on a Predator originally released as part of the company's Aliens line.[2][3][4]
