Luis Eduardo Barreto Ferreyra (1954 – December 15, 2011), known professionally as Eduardo Barreto, was a Uruguayan comic book artist who provided interior art for the comic Aliens vs. Predator: Deadliest of the Species for Dark Horse Comics.

Biography[]

A veteran of the American comic book industries for years, having worked with virtually every major character for most major comics companies in the US, Barreto got involved in the 'Aliens'/'Predator'/'Aliens vs. Predator' comics franchises working as inker on the later issues of Aliens vs. Predator: Deadliest of the Species maxiseries written by veteran X-Men writer Chris Claremont.

Barreto subsequently ascended to cover all interior art duties on the remaining 8 issues of the series.

Notably, Barreto also worked on Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman for DC Comics and the Punisher for Marvel Comics, among numerous other projects for both companies.

In 2010, Barreto had to step down from his 4-year-old job as artist of the nationally syndicated Judge Parker newspaper comic strip after coming down with meningitis. His last published work was in DC Retroactive: Superman - The '70s (September 2011), finished from his hospital bed, and with some pages drawn by fellow Uruguayan Christian Duce. Barreto died on December 15, 2011.
