Ron Cobb (1937 – September 21, 2020) was an American cartoonist, artist, writer, film designer and film director who served as a concept artist on the 1979 film Alien and the 1986 film Aliens. Other notable films Cobb has worked on include Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977), Back to the Future (1985), The Abyss (1989), Total Recall (1990) and True Lies (1994).[1]

For Alien, Cobb contributed to the exterior (miniature) look of the Nostromo and designed many of the spacecraft's interior sets.[2] He also put forward designs for LV-426, the derelict and the titular Alien, before H. R. Giger was hired to design these extraterrestrial aspects of the film. On Aliens, Cobb designed the interior of the Sulaco.
