Over a decade, there were a series of Alien and AVP themed total conversions made for the first-person shooter video games Doom and Duke Nukem 3D.

Doom

Perhaps the best known Alien themed TC for Doom was Aliens TC, made by Justin Fisher. It is also known to be the first of its kind. It would later be followed by sequels that aren't made by Fisher, but by others. These sequels are Aliens Doom 2, Aliens Doom 3: AVP, Aliens: The Second Nukage, and Aliens X. There's also a partial conversion, known as the AVP Theme Patch. Additionally, there's an Aliens vs. Predator vs. Terminator TC.

The marine sprite is left unmodified, where they are depicted to be colonial marines. The sounds of the characters and weapons are taken directly from Aliens, Predator, and Predator 2. The sprites for enemies and weapons differs, and some of them are actually modified imp sprites. There are plans to remake the AVP Jaguar game in the Edge source port, but it apparently never made it through as no updates appeared as of 2011.

Aliens: Colonial Marines for GZDoom is, by far, the newest Aliens TC done for Doom in the last years. Released in 2011 and updated recently this 2012, is the most advanced Alien project, powered for GZDoom with lots of modern effects like real 3d floors and dynamic lights. Uses the weapons and music from Alien Trilogy and textures from AvP2, and high detailed new Alien sprites. The plot take place on LV-426, where you take the role of Corporal Dwayne Hicks. Is basically an adaptation (or reinterpretation) of the Aliens movie but as a classic shooter, with a feeling of the first AvP1 and Alien Trilogy games.

Duke Nukem 3D

Compared to Doom, many Alien-themed TCs never got past production, with a demo being the only available versions. Alien Extermination (or Alienz), and Aliens were the only TCs that are completed. Slawomir "Law" Lawrynowicz is best known for making AVP TC, which served as a faithful sequel to the movies (but still, it was non-canon). Its levels somewhat resembles the ones from AvP1 and Alien Trilogy. Just like the ones in Doom's, Duke's sprite is left unmodified. He is depicted to be somewhat a marine private, who much like the Private, or the Rookie, managed to take on many Aliens and Predators.

Alienz however, used the Platoon TC player sprite to portay the marines. The player sprite was used in AVP TC to portay generic marines. A sequel (but resembles more to be a prequel) was released and known as the AVP 2 TC. In the TC player assumes the role as a Predator. It has many references to the comics, such as Bad Bloods (from Predator: Bad Blood), "Bugman" (from Aliens: Colonial Marines comic), and Soviet soldiers (from Predator: Cold War). Compared to Doom's, which used recordings from Aliens, Predator, and Predator 2 for the characters and weaponries, the many DN3D TC's used sound files taken from AvP1 and AvP2 instead. It also used graphics from AvP1 and AvP2, for the weapons, generic objects, and the environment.

Quake

At least one Alien TC project was made for the game Quake. However 20th Century Fox has the rights and the TC, in turn, becomes AvP1.
