The Dog alien also known as the "Bambi burster" or the "Runner alien" was introduced in Alien³. The Dog alien differs from other Aliens in the previous films by several ways due to the host it was spawned from a dog in the theatrical cut or an ox in the extended edition of Alien³. The Dog alien in its Chestburster form is a miniature version of the adult which differs from human spawned Aliens. The adult is primarily quadrupedal, has double jointed hind legs and lacks the dorsal tubes of the human-spawned variety.

It is also hinted that the "Dog Alien" may infact be lacking the intellect that human born "Warriors" possess. In Alien 3, rather than gather comatosed hosts to herald the soon to be birthed "Queen", the "Dog Alien" killed and mutilated each and everyone of its victims. This would suggest that Xenomorphs also gain intellectual, aswell as physical traits from the host it springs from. In videogame adaptations, the Runner is typically shown to be faster than warrior aliens, but less durable and damaging.
