- "I saw a drum of this stuff fall into a beachhead bunker once. The blast put a tug in dry dock for seventeen weeks. Great stuff!"
- ―David (from Alien3)
David Postlethwaite was an inmate at the Fiorina "Fury" 161 Class C Work Correctional Unit, one of several who stayed behind after the facility was officially closed down by Weyland-Yutani. He was involved in battling a lone Xenomorph that was born in the prison in 2179.
David was killed acting as bait during a desperate attempt to lure the Xenomorph into the lead mold at the foundry alongside the prison.
On Fiorina 161
Shortly after the Xenomorph was first sighted within the foundry, David discovered the remains of Vincent, the first prisoner to perish during the chase. Minutes later, he too encountered the Dragon, getting its attention by throwing his flare at the creature before fleeing. He almost perished when the door he was assigned to close initially failed to shut completely, finally slamming down when the Dragon was mere moments from rushing through. David subsequently stood guard at his door while the Xenomorph stalked other prisoners through the tunnels.
Eventually the Dragon entered a ventilation shaft and managed to sneak around behind David as he watched for it through the window in the door he was guarding. He didn't notice the creature standing directly behind him until it was too late, and when he finally turned around in fear it pierced his skull with with a Headbite, its inner jaw driving straight through his head, smashing through the window of the door he was guarding, and splattering blood and brain matter on the surrounding environment.
Personality and Traits
Despite his serious crimes, David seemed to be considerably more amicable and intelligent than many of the other inmates, especially with Ripley whom he engaged on an equitable level, although it is possible this behavior was simply out of a realization that she was in just as much jeopardy as the prisoners on Fiorina 161. Likewise, while he joined the other inmates in calling Aaron by his nickname "85", he did not appear to do it out of malice, but rather simply out of habit. Despite his generally more amiable nature, David was prepared to question Dillon's leadership when the two men disagreed.
- David's line, "Here, kitty, kitty" when searching for the Dragon is likely a reference to Brett, who speaks the exact same dialogue in Alien but referring to the ship's cat.
