The Elite or Dark is the playable Yautja hunter in the newest Aliens vs Predator game.

Information

Although never officially named, Dark was the player named skin of the campaign playable Predator. This skin is the classical, Dutch vs Predator look, from the first movie. The name "Elite" is purely his rank. "The" Elite is to define him from the other Elite's in the game, and to define him from the rank altogether.

His story begins on an unknown planet, awaiting trials by 3 other Yautja Elite's. He masters melee combat very quickly, and then proceeds to master the iconic Plasma Caster weapon. After he finishes his trials, he, alongside two other Elites,

goes down to a now human colonized planet to investigate the whereabouts of two “Youngblood” Yautja who were performing the ancient tradition required for all Yautja. After discovering that the two warriors had been killed in the jungle, Dark sets their wrist bracers to overcharge which would vaporize the remains, so as not to be discovered by the humans.

Dark’s next objective was to meet up with the other Elites to help find and kill the queen. Unsuccessful in finding his brothers, Dark sets out to find the queen on his own, only to find the scorched remains of the queen deep in the refinery, who unbeknownst to Dark had been killed by the Rookie. He proceeds to escape the burning facility, but not before he discovers one of his fallen brothers. As with the youngblood, he sets his deceased brothers wrist bracer to overcharge in order to erase any of the Yautja technology in the area. Before retreating, however, Dark takes his brother’s Smart Disc for assistance.

After all this, Dark has now gone off course, and has managed to find himself in the ancient ruins of the Yautja temple, which had once provided as hunting grounds for his kind. Tempted by the history of his ancestors, Dark ventures further through the temple, following the steps required to fulfill the prophecy. He eventually discovers an Ancestral bio Mask, which once belonged to a legendary Yautja. Not wanting to miss out on such an opportunity, Dark removes his own mask and dons the royal mask.

It reveals to him a holographic record of the very first "Serpent" triumph made by a Yautja. Dark's mission is now to purge the humans off of the planet, by destroying their colony. After some heated events, Dark discovers the arena, where youngblood would battle xenomorphs. The winner would receive an Ancestral Combi Stick, as did Dark after defeating a Praetorian.

Dark learns that within the temple lies the wrist bracer of an ancient Yautja. He proceeds to locate the bracer only to find that it had been stolen by the humans and brought back to their headquarters to research on. Dark ventures further through the tombs and finds himself outside the headquarters, which was build over top the Yautja pyramid. After infiltrating the base, Dark finds the bracer in one of the labs. He then escapes to the service elevator which leads underground to the pyramid’s interior, where the finale of the prophecy awaited.

Finally, Dark reaches the ancient tomb of his ancestors to witness the holographic record of the first sucessful capture of a serpent queen. It is revealed that his legendary ancestor was buried next to the first serpent queen too, as a coffin is discovered. Dark reaches the resting tomb of his ancestor, and honorably sets the bracer to the coffin. He is then ready to leave, but is attacked by a Predalien which the Yautja calls “The Abomination”. The two fierce creatures battle in the atrium, now flooded with molten lava. Dark emerges victorious and manages to escape the collapsing ruins by climbing the top of the pyramid and dropping the body of the abomination to the bottom, showing his dominance. He is picked up by the Yautja ship that dropped him off, and retreats from the planet right before the facility erupts. As he walks through the halls, the other Yautja bow in his presence, clearly understanding what feats he had achieved and all singlehandedly. He is also the only Elite of the three to have made it off the planet alive. Finally, the ship heads towards the ultimate Alien hive: Their planet.

Trivia

Dark without his mask.

• Dark's design is based on the Yautja in the first Predator film.

• His original helmet bares a similar resemblance to Scar from Alien vs. Predator movie.

• Despite becoming an Elite, he, alongside the two other Elite's who land on the planet with him, never actually wear the mask that other Elite's seem to wear (A mask that is similiar to the one worn by the Yautja Celtic), this may be due to the fact that he had only recently become an Elite, as he is often refered to as "young one" by his fellow clan mates.

• Dark is the first Yautja seen on screen to carry two Wrist Blades, instead of just one.

• Traditionally, Yautja hunters take their victims' heads as trophies but in the ending of AvP3's Predator campaign Dark merely threw the cold dead PredAlien down from great height without decapitating it first. One theory is because the monster was unholy to their race and must be completely eradicated.
