Colombia, officially the Republic of Colombia, is a country in South America. Colombia shares land borders with Panama to the northwest, Venezuela and Brazil to the east with and Ecuador and Peru to the south. It shares its maritime limits with Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Jamaica, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. It is a unitary, constitutional republic comprising thirty-two departments. The territory of what is now Colombia was originally inhabited by indigenous peoples, with as most advanced the Muisca, Quimbaya and the Tairona. The capital and largest city is Bogotá, located in the center of the country.

The drug dealer Ramon Vega was native of Bogota, Colombia, where he had an impoverished upbringing, spending much of his early life on the streets, begging and stealing to survive.[1]

The Colombian Scorpions, a drug cartel operating in Los Angeles in 1997, was of Columbian origin.[2]

Before reporting the clashes between police forces and drug cartels in Los Angeles, Bill Lemieux had reported on the urban conflict in Bogotá, Colombia.[3]

The M42A2 Scout Rifle made its reputation in 2181 when sharpshooters of the Colombian Fuerzas de Seguridad Terrestre Antiterroristas, positioned in Bogotá's Céntrica Arcologia managed to keep entire city blocks locked down during a week long terrorist insurgency.[4]
