Chris Claremont.

Christopher S. "Chris" Claremont (born November 25, 1950) is a British-born American comic book writer who wrote the comics Aliens: Renegade and Aliens vs. Predator: Deadliest of the Species for Dark Horse Comics.

Claremont is known primarily as the writer of the sprawling, ambitious 12-issue maxiseries Aliens/Predator: The Deadliest of the Species, the second Aliens vs. Predator series to be produced. The project came after break Claremont had taken from the comics industry and marked his return to the field, though not at his usual home with Marvel Comics.

Deadliest of the Species was preceded by the short creator-owned Renegade, which served as a lead-in and tie-in to the series featuring Deadliest of the Species character Ash Parnall as the protagonist. The story was later referred to as Aliens: Renegade when reprinted in the UK Aliens magazine, though no actual Xenomorphs appear in it.

Biography

Considered a giant in the comics field, Claremont was the revolutionary writer who conceived of the modern-day version of the Uncanny X-Men at Marvel Comics in the 1970s, introducing such characters as Wolverine, Storm, Colossus and Nightcrawler to the team. He also penned the landmark Dark Phoenix Saga, which he made with co-Aliens comics contributor artist/writer John Byrne. He also created the New Mutants, which lead to countless "next generation"-style X-Men side teams.

In recent years, Claremont has co-authored fantasy novels with George Lucas and continues to be active as a writer in the comic book field, mostly for Marvel Comics. For DC Comics, in the 1990s Claremont created the much publicized super hero team series Sovereign 7 with fellow A/P/AVP contributor artist Dwayne Turner.

Claremont makes a cameo appearance along with Marvel Comics founder Stan Lee near the start of the film X-Men 3: The Last Stand, which is in part based on his Dark Phoenix Saga.
