Chris Ayers is an American artist specializing in character design who served as a concept artist on the 2004 film Alien vs. Predator and the 2007 film Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem.[1] He is known for his work on Men in Black II (2002), The Santa Claus 2 (2002) and Scary Movie 3 (2003).[2]

Work[]

Alien vs. Predator[]

Chris Ayers was a concept artist on Alien vs. Predator.[3] He was also used during the first fleshed out test of the full-size Queen to give "her" some scale.[4] The test was recorded (and Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc. uploaded it to their YouTube channel on November 29, 2013) and Ayers flinched once during the test, but "the real mess he made was out of frame."[4]

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem[]

Ayers was a concept artist for Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem[7] in 2006 and worked on character design.[8] He produced paint schemes of the Predalien for further comment and eventual approval.[9] His concept art made for the film includes a digitally altered and painted version of a Steve Wang maquette used to explore the Predalien's coloration[10] and an early[5] pencil sketch of the Predalien done during the design process.[6]

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem: Inside the Monster Shop[]

Chris Ayers worked on the book design and photography for Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem: Inside the Monster Shop[11] and is even credited on the cover of the book. Ayers' digitally altered and painted version of Wang's maquette is featured on page 108[10] and a piece of concept art of the Predalien that he created is featured on page 109.[6] As with the rest of the ADI crew who worked on Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, he is credited on page 124 as a concept artist.[7]
