Bjorn Nyberg[1] was the captain of the whaling vessel the Emma until 1903.
Bjorn died of fever on the return voyage to Norway following the 1903 season.[1] After his death, his younger brother Sven took over as captain of the Emma.
Biography[]
Prior to his death, Bjorn had been captain of the Emma for 19 seasons. His passing compelled his brother to assume command of the Emma for the following season, which would prove to be the final commercial venture of the Nyberg Brothers Oil Company of Oslo.[1]
