Aliens vs. Predator: Deadspace is a limited release one-shot comic book that was published by Dark Horse Comics in March 2008. It was included exclusively with copies of the Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem Unrated Edition DVD sold at Best Buy outlets. The story was written by Mike Kennedy, illustrated, inked and colored by Francisco Ruiz Velasco, lettered by Dave Lanphear and edited by David Land and Katie Moody, with cover art by Velasco.

In the Aliens vs. Predator comics line, Aliens vs. Predator: Deadspace was preceded by Alien vs. Predator: Sand Trap, and was followed by Alien vs. Predator: Civilized Beasts.

PlotEdit

Two astronauts, Dennis and Carl, are adrift in space when Carl begins to enter the atmosphere of a planet. It then cuts back to earlier when the two are about to board a ship. Once on board they discover the corpses of the crew who died from what appears to have been pressure loss. As the two are investigating, flashbacks of the crew being killed by Predators and Aliens are shown. One of the astronauts discovers a dead, captive Queen. The two are then attacked by Aliens and Predators. A Predator activates a grenade, destroying the ship and the humans are sent adrift. It then cuts back to the beginning. Carl then begins burning up in the atmosphere of the planet while Dennis is approached by three Aliens.

Reprint HistoryEdit

Aliens vs. Predator: Deadspace was never offered for individual sale anywhere and was exclusive to the Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem Unrated Edition DVD at Best Buy.

Behind the ScenesEdit

In addition to Deadspace, Chicago-based comic book and video game writer Mike Kennedy also wrote the three other original comics produced to tie into the two Alien vs. Predator feature films, namely Alien vs. Predator: Thrill of the Hunt, Alien vs. Predator: Civilized Beasts and Alien vs. Predator: Sand Trap.

TriviaEdit

  • Deadspace shares its name with the science fiction horror video game franchise Dead Space, which was influenced by and bears similarities to Alien. The first Dead Space game was released in October 2008, seven months after the comic book.
