Aliens: The Essential Comics Volume 1 is a trade paperback comic book published by Dark Horse Books on October 24, 2018. It was also published simultaneously in the digital format via Dark Horse Digital. It was part of the company's Essential Comics reissue program, which aimed to collect and re-release the key comics from all of Dark Horse's Aliens, Predator and Aliens vs. Predator lines as easily-accessible trade paperbacks. However, owing to Marvel Comics' acquisition of the rights to Alien comic books, subsequent volumes were cancelled; this included the already-announced Aliens: The Essential Comics Volume 2. The book was edited by Randy Stradley and Diana Schutz, while the cover art was an amalgamation of the covers from Aliens: Nightmare Asylum #1 and Aliens: Female War #2, by Den Beauvais and John Bolton, respectively.

Trivia[]

  • Notably, the version of Outbreak included in the collection is unique, in that it features the original characters of Hicks and Newt and is also printed in color — previously, all colored versions of the comic had used the updated/edited characters Wilks and Billie.
