Adele Rousseau was a member of Maxwell Stafford's private military team, which was hired by Charles Bishop Weyland to accompany a Weyland Industries expedition to Bouvetøya, Antarctica in 2004. The expedition's objective was to investigate an ancient Pyramid buried beneath the ice there, with Stafford's team present to provide security. The Pyramid was discovered to be a Yautja temple and hunting ground where the Predators would breed Xenomorphs for use in their Hunts, and the expedition soon became caught up in the battle between the two species.

Adele was impregnated by a Facehugger in the sacrificial chamber, and died when the Chestburster inside her emerged.

Biography

Adele was one of the mercenary part of the team. She was told to stay in the sacrificial chamber with Thomas where they were later trapped in because of the other part of the team removed the Predator weaponry which caused the pyramid to shift.

Exploring the ruins and death

After the doors closed, several eggs appeared and started opening. Adele unholstered her gun and stepped closer- a mistake since a Facehugger jumped out and attached itself to her face faster than she could react, rendering her unconscious after a very brief struggle. She later wakes up next to the now-dead facehugger and looks

around to see Thomas and another member facehugged. She looks down at the dead parasite only to start convulsing and screaming in pain as the Chestburster starts emerging. She then took her jacket off and began to moan and spit up blood. She let out a horrific scream as the chestbuster ripped through her chest, killing her.

Novel

In the Novel, Adele managed to react a little quicker to the emerging Facehugger and was able to shoot and hit an egg, however, the Facehugger had jumped out and already attached itself to her face by the time the egg was hit, demonstrating their incredible agility. Also, unlike in the film Adele is not knocked to the floor by the parasite but is still standing and futilely attempts to remove it before eventually collapsing to the floor, Thomas also attempts to help her remove it but even between the two of them, they fail. The chestburster scene is not only barely mentioned but happened a sentence or two down from when Adele is being subdued, the only mention is that "the room filled with agonzing screams"

Personality & Traits

Adele was a moody and sarcastic character and seemed to dislike Thomas. She was a cautious and tall blond Amazon of a woman who served with the Weyland mercenary team on Bouvetoya. She had a liking for Lex, but treated Thomas’s poor attempts at flirting with contempt, she also didn't particularly like being near him, the reason for this animosity is not shown. She has shown to have a quick reaction, being the only one attempting to stop the wall from caving her and her companions. However, she wasn't able to react quick enough to avoid being facehugged by one the emerging Facehuggers. Adele has shown to get fascinated by strange things, as evident when she questioned the body of the previous Xenomorph host, and when she stepped closer to examine the Alien's eggs. She correctly deduced that something broke out of the bodies, by looking at the bone angles, something which Thomas failed to notice.

Equipment

Adele carried with her an Beretta 84FS cheetah as her primary weapon.

Trivia

  • Adele was the first victim of a Facehugger in Alien vs. Predator.
  • Adele's death scenes are extended and more gory in the unrated edition which shows blood coming from of her mouth and more blood added to her shirt.
  • It is possible Adele was the host for Grid, seeing as her Chestburster was the first to be born, and Grid was the first Xenomorph to appear.
  • Adele is actually the first female to have been both visibly facehugged and chestbursted within a film, Ripley's attack was not shown apart from an x-ray, only the chestburster emerging is shown, same with Mary and in Resurrection, Ripley 8 is facehugged but it fails to subdue her.
