Acheron LV-426 is the second of two natural satellites which orbit an unknown ringed planet in the Zeta 2 Reticuli system.

[edit] Atmosphere

Acheron has a 1,200km diameter at its quadrant points QBR 157 052 and has a molten lava base. The atmosphere on Acheron is comprised of 10% Argon, 85% Nitrogen and 5% Neon and maintains a gravitational field equivalent to 0.86 of that on Earth. Acheron has no indigenous lifeforms. The human colony Hadley's Hope was founded on Acheron sometime in the twenty-second century and in 2122 the Weyland-Yutani commercial hauler USCSS Nostromo discovered the The Derelict here.

Fifty-seven years after the USCSS Nostromo made contact with LV-426, a family discovered a derelict spacecraft which had been there for approximately 50 years or more. A facehugger alien attached itself to the father when he attempted to explore the derelict.

It is unknown whether the alien impregnated the father with the embryo of a queen, because subsequently the colony was overrun by Xenomorphs. Then Weyland-Yutani lost contact with LV-426, and sent a detachment of Colonial Marines to rescue the colonists. Among these marines was Lieutenant Ellen Ripley, the sole survivor of the USCSS Nostromo. The only survivors of the rescue attempt include Corporal Dwayne Hicks, Ellen Ripley, Newt (her father found the derelict), and the synthetic Bishop (341-B).

It has recently come to light that the ringed planet that Acheron (LV-426) orbits has a name as agreed by the Weyland-Yutani Corporations interstellar catalogue as Calpamos. ₩¥
