AVP: Evolution is a 2013 mobile game for Android and iOS, costing $2.99 USD on both the iTunes and Amazon app stores, but $4.99 USD on Google Play. AVP: Evolution was released on February 28, 2013, and is an engine sequel to Angry Mob Games' Predators game.

The game later got a port for the OUYA system; however, the console was discontinued due to poor sales.

Though one can still download and install the game from a website very easily if they know what they're doing.

Gameplay[]

The game is in the third-person perspective and features the Super Predators as the antagonists of the storyline. Similarly, to the Alien campaign of Aliens versus Predator 2, Alien players start off as a Facehugger and must find a host to impregnate so the player may become a Chestburster and eventually grow into an adult Alien

Plot[]

In the undergrounds of a Predator temple on LV-412, Super Predators are seen struggling with an Alien Queen. One of them gets headbitten until the Berserker Super Predator end the fight by incapacitating her with his plasmacaster. Out of desperation the Queen called for Drones to protect her but they were quickly slaughtered, in the end the Queen was captured by the Super Predators and their plan to control them can began. To test their newly controlled Xenomorph, the Berserker thrown a captured Jungle Hunter Predator in the Temple Arena, however as things didn't go as he thought, the Berserker entered the arena. Despite fighting bravely, the Jungle Hunter was overpowered by the massive Predator and was beheaded just after sending a distress signal to his Clan Leader.

In a Weyland-Yutani research facility, an untainted captive Facehugger managed to break free from its stasis tube. After impregnating a scientist, the newborn Chestburster escaped into an airduct to mature. On their side the Jungle Hunter Clan dispatched a Young Blood Warrior to deal with the Super Predator clan on LV-412, however when arrived in orbit the scout ship is shot down by Super Predators and the Warrior was forced to evacuate his ship, only having time to grab his wristblades before reaching the escape pod. The warrior's escape pod crashed near a Marine research facility and while the Yautja fought his way through the base's defenses, killing several Marines and Combat androids, the now fully grown Drone began his quest to save his Hive and his Queen. He indiscriminately slaughtered everyone crossing his path and created a major security breach by freeing facehuggers and drones until penetrating deeper in the facility when the warrior breached the facility.

While the Drone proceeded deeply in the facility and reached a ventilation shaft leading to the sewers after being assaulted by Marine dropship, the Warrior raided the research center looking for Yautja technologies gathered by Weyland-Yutani scientists to compensate the equipment he lost when his ship crashed and retrieve a armor, a plasmacaster and a Bio-helmet. With his equipment complete the Yautja proceeded through the research facility but was caught by surprise by a power shortage caused by the Xenomorph, he managed to leave the base and stumble on a Praetorian that he slayed not without difficulty. Advancing on his quest the Drone was forced to take down an APC, several Super Predators, controlled Xenomorphs and a powerloader until reaching a tunnel leading to the hive. The Predator managed to locate parts of his crashed ship, reached the cockpit, and downloaded the Temple's location before activating the ship's self-destruct system.

Once inside the Temple, both creatures pursued their quest while slaughtering Super Predators and controlled-Xenomorphs, the Drone was the first to reach the Temple Arena and engage his ultimate foe, the Berserker that tainted his species, and engaged the massive Predator. After a fierce fight against the Super Predator the drone overpowered his nemesis and finished him with a facehugger freeing his species from enslavement, however the victory was short-lived as on his side the young Warrior reached the Temple's hive and exterminate the Queen ending once and for all the Super Predator plan to control Xenomorph. While the Predator returned victorious to his ship, in the arena the still alive but weakened Berserker got his chest bursted by the unique Berserker Xenomorph.

Trivia[]

  • AVP: Evolution is, to date, the game with the most scripted playable character deaths, with a total of three — the first Alien and Predator you play as and the Facehugger you briefly play as in Alien Mission 2; although the Facehugger's death was not shown on-screen, it obviously would have died after impregnating the scientist.
  • In Alien Mission 1, if the player is at the very edge of the arena where there is a drop, it is possible for the Berserker to attempt to jump at you, but he instead falls out of the arena and never returns for the rest of the level.
  • AVP: Evolution does not contain a single line of dialogue.
  • The Berserker-Alien does not possess quad-mandibles, which is odd because, after the player defeats the Alien Queen at the end of the Yautja Campaign, an image of a Chestburster with quad mandibles is shown bursting from the Berserker's chest. However, if you look carefully, there are what appear to be bony stumps.
  • There is a glitch that allows you to unlock all character customization parts without purchasing them from the store or unlocking them. To perform the glitch you must select the item that you want (head, tail, etc.) go to the home menu, exit out of the app, and the item will be available for use when you restart the app. However, this glitch does not work for the Predalien.
  • In Alien Mission 10, there's a glitch (only accessible when using a Praetorian, Berserker-Alien or Predalien tail) where, if you grapple stab the Berserker, he will stand still; if you grapple stab him until he goes through a wall, you can hit the Berserker and he will die instantly.
  • A special bonus mission in AVP: Evolution, unlocked by collecting all 7 secret items found throughout the game's Alien missions, allows you to play as a Queen, one of the very few times this is possible throughout the Alien, Predator and Alien vs. Predator games.
  • The Predator's bonus mission is an AVP-themed homage to the popular mobile game Fruit Ninja.
  • Many of the game's sound effects are recycled from the 2010 video game Aliens vs. Predator.
  • At the start of Alien Mission 7, the player sees themselves through the eyes of a Predator watching them, making this the only game in the Alien, Predator and Alien vs. Predator franchise to feature second-person perspective.

Goofs[]

  • In the Predator campaign, when the Predator protagonist passes a window, he stops, and the game's Alien protagonist arrives and jumps on the glass before leaving. However in the Alien campaign, the game's Predator protagonist runs by the glass and stops for roaring before leaving, thing he doesn't do in his campaign, while the Alien stops at the window without jumping on it nor leaving.
    • Additionally, the Predator mistakenly came from the same direction as the Alien and continued through the opposing door, making him come from the facility and leaving to the base exit. Which is wrong as in the Predator campaign, the Predator came from the outside (door he is leaving by in the Alien campaign) to enters the base (the door he enters by in the Alien campaign).
